| Enjoyed the article. Couldnt agree more about the kids and learning. Good for you and the second graders! I also agree about the canning. I never thought I would be so 'old' as to say this. I really wish home ec was back in the schools. I dont know of any kid in my three daughters generation that can even use a sewing machine. |

| Thank you for a useful article, Paul. It clears up some misconceptions I had regarding cooperative extension. I was a 4-H kid, but never learned to can. Also, I will continue to look forward to your tips at the end of your articles. |

| As someone who uses my Extension Service quite often, I was not aware of the history. Thanks so much for the great article.
And yes, I still can my bounty, I take great pride in the process, and am sad that it's a dying art...and yes, it's an 'art'. |

| Thank you for writing this article! In the past I had looked for information on the Los Angeles County cooperative extension and found nothing. I thought we didn't have one. Today I looked again and found a good web site. Thank you!

| Nice to know the history behind the extension services! Luckily, ours is only five minutes from here, and I have taken advantage of their services a few times. |

| Paul, My computer (and all off-island communication) has been down for about 36 hours, and when I got back on, your article was the first thing I read. Fascinating! I know there are a lot of people that use the extension services, but I think there are probably a whole lot more who don't know anything about them, or what they can provide. It was a great article to inform folks of a wonderful program, and maybe many more will take advantage of it now. Great job! |

| That was great. I use Cornell Cooperative Extension informaton all the time. I never thought to wonder how it all got started. I just wish that they would offer Master Gardner classes in the summer or in the evenings because I'm ready to learn more about gardening and horticulture. |
