I've had problems on and off with fusarium wilt and basil in various planting locations at my place of work and in my home garden. This year I created a brand new bed in the backyard of our new/old house. Judging from the looks of this backyard no one has ever grown anything other than pyracantha, citrus, and a few lantana in it. I purchased basil plants of several varieties from our local botanical gardens at their plant sale. I know the growers personally and every attempt is made to avoid infection from this virus. Still, some of the plants have succumbed in the rainy, humid weather of our monsoon season. I have grown one resistant variety from seed in the past, I think it was called 'Garden Gate', or something close to that but I don't remember exactly where I got the seeds and I also know that there's another variety called 'Nufar' which is also supposed to be resistant. Fortunately, I managed to harvest a ton of basil before the attack began and there's still quite a bit left but I know from experience that it's only a matter of time before most of it becomes infected.

Does anyone have any experience with this and advice for a "fusarium weary" herb gardener? I'd appreciate any information you can share with me.
