It would take a masonary contractor to correct my damper problem. No dough though. Until I can get it fixed properly, is there something I can block the hole with to keep the a/c inside from being sucked out the chimney? I don't burn wood in it because it really needs a good cleaning, however, I do burn tiered candles just for looks. Whatever I stuff it with, I wouldn't want it to catch on fire from the burning candles.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
If it's a round hole, hardware stores carry a special 'plate' that fits the hole. Cheap. Before I installed my woodstove this past spring, the thimble in my wall had a shaped wood cut-out over it, painted in a bunny face, and stuck on the brick with caulk.
