Citrus junos

Yuzu bought at Long's in Oakland. Tag says it's from Four Winds Growers.

Oh I want a Yuzu!!! I notice it is the latest thing the fancier restaurants are using. I had the best Yuzu martini at Ame not that long ago. And our Sushi man buys it in a concentrated form. I have to hit him up for a bag!!

I haven't been to Longs in such a long while. I am overdue!

Shhh! Keep it secret or I won't be able to barter the fruit with fancy chefs! ;-)

I bought a small potted yuzu here in Japan last week. The leaves of mine are different, and I don't recall seeing any yuzu here with leaves such as those in your picture. However, Four Winds is a very reputable grower (I have experience from the nursery industry in California), so I imagine what you have is truly a yuzu. There may just be different cultivars, of course. I don't have experience with yuzu, yet.

Mine is grafted, like so many plants here, but I don't know what the rootstock is, nor if it'll be a dwarf tree. I kind of doubt it. The sales lady said the tree would get big, but I don't think she really knew any of the particulars.

(Note: Most trees here are pruned drastically all the time. I don't believe anything's ever grafted onto a dwarfing rootstock, although space is at such a premium.)

But I look forward to using my yuzu--the fragrance of the zest is wonderful and the juice is great, too--and hope you'll like yours, too.

If any one knows what an unpruned yuzu's natural height is, would you please let me know? I never had one before and, as I said, the trees here are all really cut back.

The tree will be set out into the garden, at this point.
