I have just joined into this forum. I have to replace a ceiling fan switch. I know the black goes to L, the green to one number the brown to one number, but I have three grey wires, two of which go to a transformer of some kind. My question, do I put the grey one from the fan and one grey one from the transformer into my last slot on the switch or what? Right now I have two grey ones connected, and the other two connected together. the fan only runs on slow. My husband is ready to just hire an electrician and put in a complete new fan. I am very stuborn when it comes to things like this and just want to know how to wire it correctly even if we put in a new fan. Please help.

Never saw a grey wire that the homeowner needed to connect.

I've installed lot of fans and am familar with, black, white, blue and green wires.

Check the instructions or the fans manufacturer online.
