My 8 yr old son is BEGGING me to paint his room camoflauge. I have a pretty good idea how to do it, but I really don't think that I'm going to be painting the ENTIRE room that way. I was thinking of camo on the bottom half of the wall, and about a 3 inch wide, bright orange stripe above that and then olive green for the top half of the wall. He has oatmeal colored carpeting (I want to rip out but hubby's having a stroke over it) and I'm going to make mosquito netting curtains and a canopy of sorts. Thoughts?

Gosh Michelle, I don't have a clue. My girlfriend told me her 8 yr old twins want their room painted camouflage. I thought it'd be easier to just paint the walls in the lighter brown typically seen in it and use camouflage bedding and curtains! I'm going to keep my eye on this thread though. She's done sponging and that sort of thing before and when she was tired of it and repainted it, you could see where the sponging was done. It stuck out if that makes sense. She wasn't happy.

Just did a quick search and I found this website

I don't know how to do the camo effect, but it seems like it would be very time consuming! I like Terry's idea of painting the walls a solid color and then doing the bedding, etc in camo. But if you know how to get the look that you want on the walls, I do like the idea of just doing it on part of the wall, otherwise I think it could be kind of overwhelming if the entire wall is painted in camo. Either that or do one accent wall in camo and do the rest of the walls in a solid color that matches one of the paints that was used in the camo wall.

ecrane3, believe it or not, I've painted camo before! I live in northern Michigan and *things* get painted in camo all the time. It's almost like a God-given talent in "these here parts".

I agree that the entire room being painted camo would be overwhelming. I also think the colors are ugly and depressing, however, my son thinks they are beautiful! He already has a camo comforter and I may or may not try to match the pattern. I'm hoping by using the orange stripe (what other color really *goes* with camo??) on the walls and sewing some orange pillows and a bedskirt, maybe finding an orange throw rug and now that I think about it, I think I will skip the mosquito netting curtains and go with orange valances (maybe)...hopefully he'll still get the camo effect that he wants and it will be a little livelier with the orange.
