Kristi (Knolan) asked Connie and I to make a praying mantis for her. We finished him last night and I thought we'd share some photos with you folks.

He was made similar to the one we made earlier this year for Victorgardener, but he's still rather unique.

We did the arms a bit differently this time. I like the way the beads look. His arms were much more easier to pose than they were when they were stiff copper tubing.

Thanks Meezer. We thought he was rather charming ourselves. Then again, Connie and I are a bit biased, so it's nice to hear that someone else thinks so also. :-)

Hubby told me last night that we should have made him look vicious! He said that it was too pretty! HAHAHAHAHA I said, um, did you notice that he had a bee clutched in his grasp, and that he was going to devour it?

Men!!! pbbbbbbbpttttt!

Thank you so much!

Kristi, I can't wait to see him on your wall. I think he will fit in wonderfully with the rest of your awesome decor. He was so much fun to make.

Biv, He's about 25 inches from the bee he's holding to the tip of his wings. He'll stand away from the wall about 3-4 inches.

As I was taking photos of him last night, hubby was watching TV. After about 20 pictures with the flash, he turned around and said, Don't you think you have enough pictures yet? I said, ya know Sweetie, once he's gone, we can't pick him up and look at him any more. We won't have him for reference for the next one. He then understood why I was taking photos of his underside, as well as the parts that will be seen. I was really glad I'd taken so many photos of Victor's as we were creating him. We referred to those photos as we were creating this one's body.

We learn something with each sculpture we create and try to improve the things we can. It's always amazing watching the sculpture come together as we work. Connie is so much fun to work with. Her welding skills have improved considerably since we began this adventure. I have to watch her closely though with that long braid dangling so close to the torch. :-)

That is absolutely fabulous artwork and such skill, well done to both of you and thankyou for sharing it in this forum.
Is it the same Connie that has beautiful vases on the cut flower forum?

Thanks Murmur and Terri! He made both of us grin bigtime! :-)

I don't think it's the same Connie, Terri. Though I'm sure she must have some nice vases somewhere, she doesn't "do" cut flowers.

Cath,

I am glad you liked 'em.

Hopefully we can get started on your mermaid tomorrow, depending on Connie's plans. I haven't talked to her yet today. Just got back from the deer lease and I need a shower and a cold glass of iced tea!

Thanks Balvenie. We really like this one also and can't wait to see it up on the wall.

The mermaid we will be making for Cath (Gardnerkett) will be a big challenge for us. We're really looking forward to creating her. We've already been brainstorming on her creation. Connie's got other plans today so hopefully next week we'll be able to get started on it. We'll start a new thread whenever she is completed.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to look. We really appreciate all of your kind words.

Many hugs to all,
Janet & Connie
