| Oh, how adorable. My grandmother smocked, how I wish I had appreciated her handiwork when I was a young girl. |

| Yes you should Bettypauze!
Nothing is more relaxing in the winter evenings than sitting in front of the tv (or fireplace if you are so blessed) doing needlework. I don't have any children or grandchildren to sew for, but my relatives and friends provide me plenty of opportunity for gift giving! |

| Jeannie, somewhere in this room, I have some Raggedy Ann and Andy smocking patterns. When you tell someone you collect RA & A, they give you eveything related. If you send me a dmail and remind me, I will put them aside for you. I will never use them, along with 90% of the other stuff in this room !LOL!!!!!!
Susan
PS You do awesome work! |

| Raggedyann - thanks for the compliment (you have dmail)!
You should see how full my craft/sewing room is. When I moved from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin the movers could not believe how much stuff I could cram into a 10x12 room - those poor souls had to box it all up. I now have a slightly bigger room (14x12), with one whole wall of closets.
I figure I should get everything I can now while I am working so I will have plenty of supplies when I am retired & on a fixed income. It helps that my DH is into telescopes and model trains - he spends, I spend!! |

| This thread caught my eye, because I used to smock pillows and bodices. It was quite different than embroidery on gathered fabric, but interesting and beautiful, none-the-less. http://www.savvyseams.com/techniques/canadian.php The smocked outfit is beautiful! |

| I did a small sample of Canadian Smocking (Lattice Smocking). It takes some concentration, but the effects are amazing. Almost magic! |

| Yes, when used on a bodice, it creates a lovely pleating affect for the rest of garment. |

| Oh gosh. I had forgotten about smocking. I loved it. Originally learned to do pillow tops and later for my little girl's dresses. She is now 44. hahaha.
Think I just may have to try it again. The outfit is so cute as is the model.
