Dinu, I don't know why but I question whether this is a hosta. Just a few questions if you don't mind. Are the flowers up and down the stem similar to a snapdragon or are they clustered in a ball at the top at the end of the stem similar to a geranium? Did you plant this from a bulb yourself? If so approximately how big was the bulb, the size of a tulip bulb or larger? Are the flowers fragrant?

Yes, Jerseyguy, it flowers like granium, slightly scented. Its white bulb is like the onion, fits in the palm (not small). It flowers in summer almost before the new set of leaves arrive. Help!

Ok, then I know what it ISN'T and that's Hosta. Now we just have to find out what it IS! I'll let you know when I find out. If anyone else has any ideas, I'm all ears!

Here are a few photographs of Proiphys, do the flowers resemble these? The first two are Proiphys cunninghamii, the second one is a double form http://155.187.10.12/images/photo_cd/732131822186/007.html
