I just purchased a very unique piece of art. It is a painting on granite. It doesn't have a frame, it weights about 25 pounds and I would really like to put it up.

It looks like it is on a stand already. Is there enough room on the mantle to leave it in that? Only other thing I can think of is to make a frame for it so you can hang it.

Actually, it does come with a frame, but it is really weak. I had bought a little stand for it, but I wish to place it up higher and not on that stand. The website that I got it from (www.rjstoneworks.com) doesn't exactly specify the details in putting it up. But it's a wonderful piece.

How thick is the granite? Would it be possible to drill holes part-way into it, and then mount on bolts extended slightly from the wall?

Another option might be to mount a small shelf with a groove and a lip on it, and paint it so it wouldn't visually detract from the painting.

Both of those choices would require using wall studs in the location where you want to put it, of course. Have you checked to see if there are studs in the right positions?

Nice piece!!
