I have entered this in the county fair and thankfully, won best in class. I also entered a crocheted tree skirt (which I don't have a finished picture of) that, ironically, beat this out in the competition and won grand prize for the Division. I'm a little surprised.

I won't know the judges comments until Friday but I'll bet that these are my problems:

I'm self taught from the internet and don't know how to block properly -
because of the blocking problem, it caused a matting problem. Notice the difference in squares in the corners? DH matted and framed and he is usually really good at this...I tend to think this was my problem. Could have been that we enjoyed a glass more of vino than we should have. LOL.

Any advice from the experts is most appreciated. Help me block, please.

I think its a beauty. I need to enter my cross stitch in the fair and if you go to cross stitch 123 you can see lots of cross stitch and get freebies.
I love patterns that I can save money on.

K, that is so awesome! It looks quite complicated, but you did a fantastic job!

Maybe lay off the juice til after the project LOL

It's beautiful! I haven't blocked anything, but my mom does with her knitted stuff. I'd think one would need to steam cross stitch to keep the colors from running and then pin it, making sure it's square, to let it dry correctly. Have you tried framing without glass? I've had that recommended for needlework as it needs to breathe.

I'm new to this forum and am glad to have found it. I'm working on a stocking for DS right now, cross stitch. Have done 8 others for family members. They were cross stitch, crewel or needlepoint. I also enjoy bargello. (sp?)

knolan, do you use an embroidery hoop to hold your work while you cross stitch?

Thank you to all.

Drivenbonkers, my DH built a stand for me that holds my embroidery 'roller'. I absolutely love it! It has a built in shelf underneath and I can attach a light and a magnifier.
