yours has a very different mantle on the back... my guess is that is not one. There are about 10 species of mantis. probably one of the others.

Joke: the female praying mantis turns to the male and says, " after sex but before I kill you I'll need help with some shelves..."

Bugs guys have studied why in the world this would happen in the bug world...not too good for evolution. They found the it mostly happens in captivity, meaning, in the laboratory, but it's interesting that you have found it happening in the wild also, palmbob.

Nice photo, ...hee, hee.
