Does anybody have any experience with Avalon Renier Wood Stoves. We just got one and I tried it and was surprised how fast it consumed wood. I want to know how much wood it would take per day to heat the house. I tried experimenting with the dampeners but a few logs before going to bed burned out quickly.
Seasoned hard woods burned hotter and slower and give you less chance of a "chimney fire" like if you were burning pine or other conifers with resin that can build up to a substance like creosote that can catch on fire in the chimney and cause serious problems with a fire inside the chimney itself. In short, some homes have burned down as a result of a chimney fire. Good wood to burn are, hickory, oak, poplar, gum, and more. It might take a little time to get the damper set just right. Before burning, call your "County Agent" or the New York Department Of Agriculture & Commissioner to be on the safe side.
