During the winter indoors they probably don't need lots of water. I'd put them in a nice bright window and water them enough that they don't dry out. They're not actively growing in the winter so they won't need tons of water. It's when they're outdoors during the warmer months that they tend to be thirsty.
I Agree with what Ecrane has told you on how to care for your mandevillas, they are really nice flowering shrubs given the right conditions, dont sit them too close to the window because even winter sun through glass can act as a magnifying glass and the foliage can get scorched and the whole plant will suffer from shock/dehydration, just sight them close to the window to give good light but not direct hot sunlight, winter as she said is the rest period for these plants, in fact most plants, so early spring when you notice signs of new growth, start to give a liquid feed say about once a week and to start with give half the amount the food directions say, once the plant really gets going, you can increase the amount of feeding and watering, you may have to put garden canes into the pot for support as these plants can grow quite tall and the stems can fall over, to get the plant to bush out you can nip off the growing tips when they start to put on some growth. if your unsure about watering in the growing season, just poke your finger into the top of the soil and if damp, dont water, if dryish, water. good luck and enjoy.
