We have decided to replace our windows starting next February.

We have gotten the estimate on the cost of the windows.

Question . . . How long does it take to install a window and what should we expect installation cost to be?

Thank You

Arlene

That was the road-side of the house; this is the lake-side.

This is most of the windows being replace other than a small bathroom window and a very small bedroom window that does not show in these views.

We are also adding more windows in these views. We like the way they go all the way up in the first picture and plan on doing that on the lakeside also.

There's a remodeling cost estimator on HGTV's website http://www.costestimator.com/hgtv/index.jsp. You put in your zip code, then choose the type of project and put in some details and it tells you about what you can expect for cost. You've got a lot of windows, so it's not going to be cheap!

Voila! New window is in. The window that was there before was long and high; you couldn't sit in the dining are and see the flowers outside. I really like that we lowered it.

New windows from the lakeside but the siding is not on yet so you see the green stuff; we don't care for the brown color we chose for the siding color; think maybe a brick red would have been better but with two coats on before we decided that it will have to wait for a color change until it is time to repaint. We are very tired of painting.

I have been sorting through the pictures the last two weeks and will be posting the "after pics" very soon. All that is left to be done is a new dining table & chairs as well as carpeting for the staircase and master bedroom. We finished to this point in April and I put the rest of it on hold to be in the garden this summer. But there are plenty of pictures to show where it has gone to.

The lower level of my house where I do most of the cooking and office work is more traditional (more me) but the upper level is now all modern as that is what DH likes.

Stay tuned, folks

Ok, I tested it but when you click on it an add comes up for "Cursormania" which says "Click Here" . . . DON'T click on that . . . just wait a bit and the slide show comes up.

Enjoy looking; it was fun and easy to make... and, did I say FREE?

We tore out old windows, and put in new, larger bay windows.
Then, we cut a hole for a new back door, and then increased opening size
for a new front door. The mess was not that bad, and the job really only
took about 2 full days.
first pix is of two old single hungs (gosh I hate them) in living room.
these were ripped out and replaced by the bay windows.

this is the laundry area with wall in the way.
We removed the right hand wall, the hot water heater, and the
furnace to the basement, then we took out the washer and dryer
and put a nice new half light door in there. the original back door
was to the right in this picture, and so crowded you couldn't get in
or out, it was HORRIBLE

Here you can see the closet/walls removed from the marks on the floor. See the old door to
the right, and new door, with window in it. Finally I can see out, and see who is coming
up the driveway, and hurry up to get some decent clothing on!

Here is the new large front door. the old door had no window in it. It was a dark and icky corner, and the
door was too small for items to come inside. We were continually taking the old door off the hinges to
get a washing machine or a refrigerator into the house.

Now this new door is 36" wide and has full light and the blinds are inside of it so the dogs cant destroy
them. We can open and close and raise and lower the blinds. Wonderful!!!!!

Good job; great improvements. I have that very same door with the blinds in between the window for our walk-out garage door and we also love it!
