In the fall after the first frost cut the leaves off and dig it out . Let it dry on newspaper for few days. Get a box and if you have and shredded paper line the botom of a box with it and lay your elephant ear down in it . shake some baby powder on to of the bulb put a little more shredded paper and put in a cool corner in the basement or garage do not let it freeze.
Next spring bring it out and plant. I did this last year with all my tropical bulbs including the caladiums and they did fine...

I cut the leaves off to about 1ft. from the ground, leave them in the ground till just before frost. Then I dig them out, shake them off, lay in a box, place in a coll par of the basement- off the concrete- and wair until spring. Brin up and plant directly outside. They are huge this year
