Well, my season is over, I took a break, drew a deep breath, and now I have my second wind.
This year I was approached by the Chamber of Commerce, who wanted me to join. I joined. This year the news media picked up on my market and did free advertising.
I couldn't keep up with the demand because of the free advertising.
Since the season is over, my name isn't "out there". So, I've decided to do a fundraiser. Part of fundraiser is on my web site and if you want to know the web site, I can tell you, via d-mail, but I don't think I can put it on here in the open forum. Someone else can, but I can't.
Anyway, moving right along. . .
I contacted 3 radio stations and 2 television stations about the fundraiser. They are willing to give me free advertising as a "Public Service Announcement" for the fundraiser. I contacted the Chamber of Commerce this morning and haven't heard back from them yet. They usually charge $60.00 to do an electronic flyer that they can send out to all the chamber members. I'm asking them to follow suit with the radio and television and to do this as a Public Service.
I've sent Faxes to 5 High Schools and gave them the low-down on the fundraiser and asked to speak in front of the school assembly. I need the schools help in order to get the information door to door and to take orders and collect money.
The fundraiser is to sell Poinsettia's during the 3rd week in November and the customers will pick them up here at "Carrington Gardens" the first week in December. That way, the high school students won't have to go out in the cold wet snow, we usually have by that time.
I don't know about your area, but in this area, just about everyone buys a Poinsettia during the Holiday Season. So, I thought, "why not go door to door and take orders for Poinsettia. It would be a perfect fundraiser." (I also have two other fundraisers for spring-hanging baskets, and fall-mum's)
The fundraiser is for the "Shriners Hospital for Children".
I'll have to admit that I'm a little scared to get in front of an entire high school, but, I'm going to do it.
This entire fundraiser is going to a great cause and it's great for business.
Any thoughts on this?
Darrell
