a friend has a gorgeous orchid with long velvety striped leaves, and wintertime stalks bearing dozens of tiny white orchids in a swirl around them. it does just fine in an ordinary city apartment, blooming year after year. I always wondered its name, and finally found it! see the article on [HYPERLINK@www.demosnews.com] ('home' genre, windowsill plants.)
