Ah Florida, My Father-in-law lives in NewPort Richey, Florida. It’s close to Tampa and only a mile or two to the Beach.

The plan was to send a few days at Poppy’s house and work our butts off then move on down the coast towards Marco Island. But plans changed, there was a lot of work to be done and although we had some beautiful weather there was a series of storms running through the Gulf area so we stayed put till it was time to head back North. Storm moving out over the Gulf.

I spent 3 days whipping the yard into shape, weeding, lopping, digging, and dragging. Oh how I love working in Poppy’s yard. I really wish I could get more time down there to garden. Ric started with the home repairs and then moved on to tree removal. We finished up with a little house cleaning and junk removal All in all the place looked much better when we left.

It wasn’t all work. There was plenty of time for fun too. A day trip to Tarpon Springs Home of the Greek sponge divers.

Great Greek food, especially the pastries. Bright colors, funky shops, boat rides and some very interesting history.

It was so interesting seeing plants that I only know as small house plants growing in all their full glory. Some of the beds in this area had borders of Prayer plants. Another tree covered with Philos.

The water garden although pretty was rather small. I think I expected more in this area. And the nearby lake was barely seen through the growth at the lake edge.

Holly, sure looks like you had a great time! You'll love that Alocasia - I picked one up last fall and although it was very slow at first, when we moved it outside for the summer it has since tripled in size!
