Is it possible to grow lilacs as indoor houseplants? I have about 13 seedlings and I don't think they will survive the winter as they are still really tiny. I'd also like to find homes for a few of them. (a few are already spoken for) I also have some tiny Sierra Leone lilies that I have started. I want to give a few of these plants to a friend in Miami beach FL. Do you guys think they will flourish there?
They should grow OK indoors, but they need a certain amount of winter chill in order to bloom. So if you're just keeping them in the house this winter as a temporary thing because they're too small to plant out that's fine, ones that are that small aren't going to bloom next year anyway. But they wouldn't work well permanently as a houseplant because of that. And your friend in Miami will have the same problem--winters there don't get cold enough (even outdoors!) for the lilacs to bloom well.
