My friend from San Diego just sent me an e-mail from her "evacuated to" home...I am so worried about all our DG friends in harms way. Need a collective for positive thoughts and prayers for all of them.

Kaperc - Kathleen are you okay? I saw that N. County is in danger now too...please take no chances.

Sending thoughts of rain and no more winds!

    Be careful all...

There have been almost a million people evacuated from there.

There are 7 counties in SoCal that are under evacuation orders and dealing with the fires.

I am also sending thoughts of rain and less wind.

Just heard that this evacuation order is the largest movement of American citizens since the Civil War!! This is being equated to a "Super Katrina"...

Please everyone, keep your hearts open to all these people...I don't think that any of us not there can imagine what this devastation is like.

Anyone reading this that is in the affected area, please let us know what we can do to help.

Thanks for the link Donna. My thoughts have been with you all there today. Did the San Diego Zoo do OK?? I know I should not really be thinking about animals right now when so many people need our help but I have fallen in love with the newest panda baby. She is only a couple of months old and does not even have a name yet and I worry about what could happen to her too.

I agree Ann! My husband and I are both native Californians, and we are also worried about the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. The tragedy is all encompassing...

I know...We have 3 50 inch flat screen TV's here at work, and we've been watching it all day. There was a very good shot of a DC10 aircraft that dropped some of the fire retardent fluid..That is a very big aircraft to do that sort of dropping.
These sort of things makes one feel kind of helpless. So like you say, we have to put out to the universe for these to subside quickly!

I finally had to turn the news off...all these people trying to make capital out of a tragedy just made me sick...lots of "I told you so's" and political crap. I agree - send the thoughts out to the ether, let them gather and do what good they can.

It is too much to even comprehend. One tends to think "oh, California has another fire." as they do so often never dreaming it could get to this extent. God help your people.

You know Chrissy, that's odd you mentioned that, because I was just thinking that it will soon be fire season there in Sydney, and was hoping there wouldn't be fires there this season. Aside from California, Sydney has the same kind of fires sweeping around there during the season.

Randy - Chrissy has already had fires there...too early...does not bode well. We are keeping Australia in our hearts as well. BTW - please see Bananas in Ohio question - they could use your expertise!

I'm afraid I'm low on the curve concerning bananas. I think Chrissy was giving me tips on them.

    LOL,
It's all a work in progress, and my favorite quote is this..

"But anyone who practices organic gardening knows that it is made up of a huge volume of hints, tips, ideas and practices—some of which, when tried, work and some don't, despite the fact that the organic gardener just down the road did exactly the same thing and got incredible results. "
