well, the carpet from the cat litter incident is---well---garbage. Cat litter turns to cement when wet apparently.

The carpet has to be taken up. Problem is, it was glued, backing and all, to the wood floor underneath.

Any suggestions out there on how to remove the glue and backing bits from the wooden floor??

That's a bummer! Have you tried calling one of those professional carpet cleaning services to see if they have a way to get it out?

For the glue--is it all brittle and dried up or is it still nice and flexible? If it's all brittle, you may be better off pulling the carpet up then scraping & sanding to get rid of the leftover bits of glue. But if it's still flexible, I bet they would sell adhesive remover at HD. When people remove vinyl flooring there's glue under that too so I'm guessing they sell something to remove that. It'll probably be lots of smelly solvents though so it won't be a fun job.
