I couldn't help but notice that the crossword was worked in PEN!!! GASP!!! Who ever heard tell of such a thing! I have to change my answers when I work them so many times that I could never work them in pen!

| terri, I would be pleased to see the breast cancer theme in flowers. I have one with a butterfly tattoo guess I should make one with a flower.
The tall sculpture is separate pieces with a hole through the center and stacked together on a metal rod. The rod is 10' long with 3' of it cemented in the ground.
So you are a Liverpool supporter. Great blanket. Are those patches for various matches?

| Pauline, your one in eight series is just incredible! Each time I look I remember what our family went through when Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Within just a few years, 2 of our great aunts also were diagnosed. Both of the old ones are now gone, many years later. Mom is incredibly healthy for 77 years old. I love the one with the butterfly tattoo. Really brings home how young some women are. If I remember right, Mom was in her 40's.
Gourd, I love those chicken gourds. I had a few gourds that I bought from a Goodwill in San Antonio. I never did anything with them though. They are gone now. I always thought they'd make a fine bird butt, just never got a round tuit.
OK Terri, we're gonna have to find some fat free bizzerts. Even just looking at the cakes and brownies, I can feel the pounds landing on my hips. It's a good thing I wear stretch jeans!

Janet, I was 47 when I had my double mastectomy. My children were 7 and 8. We lived in Tunisia North Africa. My husband couldn't leave his job for the length of time I had to be gone so I came to MN to stay with my sister and her husband. What a horrible time it was, fortunately DS and her Dh are wonderful people and were there for me the whole time. My grandmother died from Brest Cancer my mother, her sister and two of my cousins have had it as well. My sister is so very careful. My children are adopted so my DD doesn't have the hereditary factor as far as we know. |

| It's wonderful that you have traveled so much. Were you all in the military? My Dad was in the Air Force and spent several tours in the Philipines and Japan. We never went with him though. That was hard on us. When Mom was diagnosed, he'd been retired from the military for only about 2 years. The military hospital took very good care of her and she still has good doctors through the base. |

| How in the world is a person supposed to keep up with all these posts!
Wow what neat things to see. I love your gourd chickens, Gourd!!
Flower arrangements are awesome Terri and so unique! Are those flowers all blooming in your garden that you use?
Zen the sculptures are fabulous and meaningful too. I love the butterfly tattoo too. And the seashell planters... Very cool. I've always had a thing for pottery. I took a class and even had a pottery wheel I'd bought at an auction but no kiln. Kinda useless without one. (Maybe we need to add to our list of necessary tools too, Janet. :) ) 30 years ago I thought pottery sinks would be neat to make. Now I see very snazzy ones in the kitchen and bath magazines.Even in Lowes and Home Depot.
KM...I finished the rug this evening. I can't tell you how many times I said in my mind (and even out loud to myself) several times during the process that I would NOT do this again. But I was determined to finish it. Was nearly excited to continue last night but had company unexpectedly. Earlier today after my bank run I sneaked in the Goodwill. This was before I finished the rug. There was a set of King size bright red sheets. My kitchen is red and black and I had them in my hand and put them back. So this evening when I got close to the end I felt like I do when reading a good book getting close to the end not wanting it to be over. I kept checking how many more scallops to "the end" there were and it was making me anxious. Not to see what it was going to look like finished but because I knew it would be over. :( So now I regret putting those red sheets back! Must mean I will be making another one. I will have to make time to go back tomorrow and hope they are still there. I'm pretty sure they'll be there, they were pretty bold sheets. Surely no one else will want them. LOL
I did do all that was in the second pic since the previous post pic pupil. I stayed up till nearly one a.m. both evenings. "Just one more row. Just one more row. OK ...just ONE more row. "
Here it is finished.

| Yes gourd. My daughter switched from a king to a queen so I had a couple sets I was going to give back to Goodwill. She'd only used the fitted anyway and the flats were gently used when I got them. I decided to rip those up. Fortunately they all looked good together. The only one I didn't have was the blue. I got that after I started at Goodwill on Tuesday. |

| Connie the rug turned out beautiful! You really did a jam up job on it. Have you decided where it will go? I think it should be in your bedroom, like we talked about, instead of in that hallway, so there's less traffic on it. The colors would be perfect in there.
I am planning on getting some ice (for the weekend trip to the Renissiance Festival) tomorrow so I'll check Goodwill in the morning. I was going to go by GW to see if I can find a "civilian" backpack since all of ours are camo/hunting style. I have my filled Get Outta Goodwill Free card that I'm itching to spend! I'll look for the sheets while I'm there. If you don't have any cars to tint in the morning, call me and we'll go together.
Cheryl, I love that sun catcher. I've got a collection of small stained glass pieces that I used on my Christmas tree last year. They are all packed now, though I didn't intend for them to go into the attic. I can't wait to get them down and I think this year, I'm going to hang them on the window trim instead of on the tree. I have some lights that are on a flower garland that run across a 6 X 12 set of double windows. Hopefully I can hang them up there without having to put any holes into the trim work. There is such a variety of things that they'd be good all year long. There must be 20 of them in that box. Each one was found throughout last year at a thrift store or garage sale for about 50 cents a piece.
I've always loved stained glass. I even went so far as to make a beautiful round pegasus stained glass. Connie taught me how to do it. That was when Jennifer was a baby. She's now 25. It took Connie and I at least 6 weeks of working on it on the weekends all day long to complete the project. I really enjoyed the work and when it was finished I was so proud of it.
Some time in the first year I had it, we moved. A friend was helping us to move and he set a whole stack of magazines on top of the piece. One piece of his body cracked. I was just sick over it.
When we moved to this house we're in now, I put it in the bathroom window. I knew the crack was there, but it really wasn't that noticeable because the glass was bullseye white and it was kind of mottley. One day, we were having a crawfish boil in the back yard. The windows were opened in the house. I heard this tremendous crash. I ran into the house. I found the whole thing in a bajillion pieces on my bathroom floor. I swore then I'd never go to that much trouble again.
Nowadays, I just admire the work that others have done, knowing how much time and effort goes into the creations. Thank you for sharing the sun catcher. I just love those peppers! :-)

| Hi,
It does look like it is double crochet. It will go alot faster too. You are right about making the stitches loose on these, otherwise they are so tight that you can't get the needle in.. I've made some rugs with what almost looks like a thick rope and used a big plastic blue needle. Now with our dogs, nothing goes on the floors. |

1st- Wuvvie, I hope you're feeling better very soon. Colds are no fun at all when you're the Mom.
2nd - Gourd, I love the uniqueness of each of the tree faces. I've only seen them a few times around here and they were outrageously expensive. If you're not selling them, you oughta be! The leaves are very cool. Do you have any close up shots of them? You know us nosy folks wanna see details!!!
3rd - Terri, the rose gourds are adorable. I love the grass around them too.
4th - Cheryl you couldn't pay me enough to live in Houston. One word says it all... DRIVING! Yikes!!!

| Wuvie, are you doing any better today? I sure hope so.
Gourd, thank you for adding the Forest Faces they such a nice feature for the cafe. Plus the lovely leaves, yes do show us a close up. You have been very busy.
terri, lovely rose and egg gourds. You have such talent arranging flowers. It is great to get all of the fresh one for cafe.
Janet, Without the kids, sounds good. I can't wait to see the photos and from two cameras at that.
Time for me to add something new. How about this guy. Click the image for an enlarged view.

| You all are the sweetest! This is so nice, waking up
to a room full of folks who care enough to ask!
(((HUGS TO ALL)))
Janet, if I felt good, I would love to go to the Renaissance festival! Years
ago hubby and I went on a regular basis in full costume. What a great time!
Zen, the spirit house, I love it! It wants to live in my garden! ;-)
Terri, the rose gourds are so precious. What a great idea, I may borrow
that one to use up some gourds that have been laying around for a while.
Dahtzu, how nice to find you here! Isn't this forum great?
Gourd, I somehow overlooked your gourd chickens, and I have to say,
those are just fabulous! Do you sell your wares?
Dandelion wine? If it works on the sniffles, I'll sure take some! :-)
Cactus, thanks for asking about me. You're too sweet. In brief, not so well
on the job front. I think I've developed the reputation of a sucker. "Oh, Karen's
easy, she'll do anything, last minute, let's call her!"
Yesterday's experience: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/786582/
All this complaining on my part leads me to think it's time to get happy. Maybe
I'll clean house today and work on a mirrored bowling ball for the Cafe. It has
been sitting around waiting, and now is the time to get busy. Maybe sniffing
some glue will help my oncoming cold. LOL.
There is no pink and green, the mirrors are just reflecting. Still
a lot of work to do on it, I promise to try.

| KM, glue-sniffing and chicken soup may turn out to be the miracle combo! I'm so glad you're going to work on that ball some more. I'm anxious to see what you're going to do with it, because I thought the last time I saw it that it's gorgeous just the way it is!!
Since zen's undoubtedly lovely bowls (sadly) didn't make it to the cafe, I'll contribute a salad bowl:

That is the kind of thing I should do with the bowling ball I have sitting around waiting for me to do something with it. |

| Very nice items in our cafe.
No, I haven't sold anything... the chickens went to Brugie in IA and mostly am a Jack of all Trades and Master of None, I thought about selling but don't know how to get started.
We moved from CA to NM and had to start over with the yard, so this time I started making things for our yard, starting with the rockwalls, it's taken awhile. The outside wall to our cafe. It seems like it took forever to build. I didn't build them, just did the design. Click the image for an enlarged view.

| Yes, I made him after the Easter Island sculptures.
The spirits like to have a gift or two now and then, flowers, food and incense. They will watch over our cafe and keep us and it happy, healthy and safe.
ima, that cobalt platter is gorgeous. |

| Hi all, Tried to find something i made that i haven't posted before, to contribute to the cafe...ie all my mosaic shardware thingies, and costume jewelry mirrors, etc. this is one of those "ceramic" paint your own things, not something i threw on a wheel...(head hung in shame). but i did this freehand and had fun doing this whimsical sunface, and use it all the time for serving and cooking...it always makes me smile! Has a somewhat African look to the features for some reason?! I would be very sad if i broke this...(so sorry Zen!) It is used almost daily! I would rather decorate than work on the wheel...i had one and i sold it years ago, to continue hand building things, that are somewhere around this house?! lol...sue Click the image for an enlarged view.

| Hi all,
Sorry I have been MIA and neglecting to keep the cafe in ship shape. I will make sure to be around to keep things running for Terri. The fall is a hard time with all the plant moving. I will start the third thread for the lovely cafe as it looks like it is needed with all the photos. Be right Back. |

| Hello Daht, many thanks!
The pieces of mirror were from one big mirror, just snipped
and clipped into similar shapes and sizes for some, then random
cuts for others. They pieces are not straight, nor perfect. Just
whatever pops into my head and comes out on the cut goes onto
the ball.
For some reason, I especially love watching 'MATILDA' on VCR
tape while working on the ball. Maybe I'll pop her in today. :-)

| I second the Mirror ball, Wuvie. Yours are some of my favorites. Well, my fav's period. I love the idea of them, gazing ball that doesn't break and can be decorated much more prettily. Is that correct grammer? Oh, well. |
