I am interested in growing the Zinnia flower. I am not sure which is the correct season under Zimbabwean conditions, given that lots of information available on the internet is mostly of European cultivation.
Your seasons are backwards from ours, correct? Zinnias are a really tough little flower, so they grow under nearly any condition except extreme cold. I planted my zinnias here in early July, but could have planted them as early as late April, at least. So, I would think that you could plant them any time. What are your daytime and nighttime temps there now? Daytime temp here is running from 60-75 degrees, with the nighttime temp running from 40-50. My zinnias are still flowering and going strong. In August we had a full month of no rain and daytime temp at 100+. I did water them but I had to water everything else, too. The zinnias took the heat and never slowed blooming or even looked stressed from the high temp.
