It has been many years but decided to dig out the hooks and stuff. Found a pattern for a cute
zig-zag throw.
Everything is coming back except for the following ( in bold ) which I just do not comprehend

doing a decrease ... ...
draw up loop in next sc - miss next sc - draw loop in next sc - yoh and draw through all 3 loops ...
Fine .. no problem ... got it this far ...

here is the booger ...
sc2tog over next 3 sts made
????
... what is meant by stiches 'made'

this just does not compute . I have read it over and over
I feel so dumb ! ! ! !

arrrggghhhhhhh * pulling out hair and grinding teeth*

TIA,
Shirley

Hi Shirley,

I can't really tell without seeing the whole pattern (and even then some patterns need deciphering) but is it possible that it is simply two different ways of writing the same thing?

In the instructions you wrote for "doing a decrease" you are single crocheting 2 together over 3 stitches...

If this is in the "valley" of the zig-zag, then it makes more sense. maybe if you ignore the 'made' word. Try it for a few repeats and see what happens. Are the # of increases at the top of the mountain the same as the # number of decreases in the valley? Better, IMHO, to try and if necessary, rip out. We need our teeth ungnashed...

I think that the '3 stch made' refer to the 3 stitches from the previous row...

Diane has the translation better than I could have said it! =)

Thanks, I'll give it another try with plain yarn and try to figure it out.

The stripey yarn I am using is fairly textured and is a bear to rip out without making it look 'used' .

I too wondered about the 'made stitches' being a mistake ... hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Sorry on the slow answer somehow this thread didn't get 'watched' and we had 2 (fruitless ) house showings last week keeping me busy .

Thanks Diane ♥ Grannymarsh ♥ and drivenbonkers ♥

Happy T-Day to all of you

Hi Scooter - I think today's your birthday and hope you have a great day.

Did your trial versions work out? Sometimes something seems impossible to me until I try it out a few times.

If it didn't work, can you copy out a larger part of the pattern. I might try it out and be able to explain it better afterwards.

Ann
