| Well here we are at a new thread again. We've almost made it #10. We have seen quilts that will baffle the mind and whole walls of art that are simply devine. Bowling balls, pots, swirls of paint, weaving, new methods of pottery, naughty chairs for teasing. A coffee table turned into art. A song written which will bestill your heart. Creation around us everywhere. Turn the next corner and another is there. So please continue to wow the site, create with all your might, and lets us gleefully squel with true DELIGHT!

Hello Semper with the amazing wall of art. Hope you have a good day!!
Zen, LOVE IT!! That is far out (pulling the 80's slang back out). What is smoke firing? Wild, out there guess, as I have no idea, but is it firing...it even sounds to far out there in my head!! Don't feel like being at the wrong end of a joke this early.

| Wren, that is stunning. After hearing about it, I really couldn't picture it in my mind. Now that I see it, you described it perfectly!! The form is amazing and the inlay really sets the piece off. I would never use it as a table, more as a sculpture!! The base of the legs look ancient. How tall is it? I want one!! Oh, never mind. I know how much you sold it for. I would have to sell a kidney. |

Wren, you've done an outstanding job on that table. I'd also want to use it as a piece of art, rather than as a table though. I'd worry that some idiot would set their coffee cup on it and leave a ring. You can surely see how much time, effort and love went into that piece. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks so much for your perseverance in bring us the photo.

Dean, I just love that table. We used to have a waybigo slab of an oak tree in my living room that my nephew finished. While I enjoyed having it there, it was definitely a knee scraper. It's gone now to another family member. I miss it, but don't miss the skinned shins. |

Only for the one I've been cleaning up after for over 30 years. And no matter how many times I bring it up, it doesn't change. So I put up with it. I suppose I could just leave it there to see how long it would take HIM to clean it up. But I'm afraid it would only get worse with each passing day. Then I'd get hollered at for not cleaning house! Can't win for losing on that one. |

| Good morning, all! Hope there is a bit of banana bread left, I'm
starving!
While I don't really have any hand made items this morning, I do
have something interesting to share which was created on it's own,
so to speak, with a bit of human assistance and urging.
I'm simply mad about tumbling glass, as many of you may know from
the Trash to Treasure forum, but as of late I've discovered a lot of fun
in smashing television tubes from days gone by.
The glass is very thick, so when smacked with a hammer, I find the
fractures often stay put. These fractures allow a bit of the slurry from the
rock tumbler to not only embed in the cracks, but over the days of tumbling,
the cracks actually seal the slurry inside the fractures.
It is a bit difficult to capture in today's lighting (cloudy, dreary) but if
you look closely you can see white lines in some of these glass chunks.
Pretty neat, I think. I believe I'll experiment using different grit material. Perhaps
some of the grit will lodge in the fractures, such as black grit. Wouldn't that
look neat?

Hubby and I recently moved an aquarium. For fun, I tossed

show up almost glow-in-the-dark style. I thought it was cool.

| That green glass is so nice. I am thinking about the rock tumbler that my father had and my mother got rid of after his death. Wish I had it now.
The bench is beautiful, the inlay really gives it a special touch.
Smoke firing. After it was bisque fired and glazed fired I fired it in a garbage can. I put in news paper, saw dust, and sticks around the sculpture set it all on fire got it going very well and then put the cover part way on so there was lots of smoke. Then it sits and smokes for hours. Thus the black smoky look on the outside.
You can use a garbage can, oil barrel, pit , Webber grill etc. I have even just put the sculpture in our fire ring had a camp fire. The black and two gray pieces in the basket were smoke fired.
How about this basket of shells on a table, by the way if you shake them they rattle. Click the image for an enlarged view.

Wuvie, The glass is beautiful. Can you drill holes in it after you have tumbled it?
Janet, I know what you are saying about cups on the table. I have old wood tables, when I have dinner guest I always set coasters on all the tables. Always surprises me how many people will set drinks beside the coasters on the table. :~/ |

| Hi Picabo,
Yep. You can drill holes in it afterwards, but sometimes it
is better to drill before tumbling. Just keep checking the tumbler
each day to make certain the hole does not close up during tumbling.
If you drill after the tumbling, it will leave a shiny spot where the
drill bit went in, whereas the rest of the glass is frosted.

Your plant stand is so pretty. I do love cobalt blue. I cannot remember if you are doing any of the glass tumbling. There's so many folks in T2T doing it. But I was just thinking that with a clear bowl on the top, you could fill it up with tumbled glass and some water for a bowl of "gems".
I've got a couple of those waybigo vases that I have found in my galivanting. I think I'll see if I can do that myself. I'll have to find a place for it though that I know the grandbabies won't knock it over. That's always a big challenge for me. But because I love 'em, I put up with it! HAHAHAHA

| Well, after writing about the tumbled glass this morning, I thought I'd go see what I could come up with.
I don't usually bring any plants into the house because I know ME. I know that I will forget to water them and without meaning to, I'll murder them. I looked around and found this vase this morning. I put the bags of "sea glass" in there and filled it up with water. It was pretty dern boring. So I thought I'd go take a couple of cuttings from my coleus to brighten it up some. Hopefully, since they'll be in a vase full of water, I won't murder these.

According to the Acceptable Use Policy here on Dave's:
Do not place any material on our service that could be considered offensive, indecent, abusive, hateful, harassing, libelous, profane, vulgar or unlawful. Our audience tends to be family-oriented (including minors), and we have the right, but not the obligation, to remove, edit, or relocate any content that we feel violates the standards of our site. Because of the real-time nature of our forums, it is not always possible for us to remove offensive material immediately.
I was sitting here showing the beautiful art that's been posted in cafe to my 3 year old granddaughter. She was very offended by the nudity that was posted on the drawings that your daughter did. I had a lot of explaining to do.

| If we knew that only adults were on this site, there would be no problem. Dave's has always been a place that is safe to bring you kids and grandkids to see. This site is so full of beautiful photos, including the work that your daughter has done. The fact remains that what was posted is against the policy here at Dave's. It's not just about how one person (my own granddaughter) felt, but about the good for everyone who enjoys the cafe. I would suggest that you ask the administrators to remove both of those posts so that no other children are offended by the drawings in the future.
Thank you,

| ALL RIGHT!! I have had just about enough of the pettiness going on here. FIRSTLY, this thread was the brain child of TERRICULTURE, the creator of the thread, and she does have a right to ask not to have certain posts made on HER thread. If she does not want meat products, THIS IS THE TREAD SHE CREATED, and OUT OF WHAT I WOULD CONSIDER RESPECT for the CREATOR, I would think everyone would understand this. Apparently not!!
On the VERY FIRST THREAD there was nude art. They consisted of a sculpture and platters. I do recall at that time, Unique, you posted how wonderful they were. Does this make much sense? NO!!?
So basically it has resulted in a way to get back for the vegaterian idea. Which, to me, is simply PETTY!! Thank goodness I did not post any of the fountains in Europe I have pics of, because this ART is nude.
SO, now we will start censoring all art, which by the way, most of the classical art contains nudity. PLEASE NO ONE POST PICS BY MICHEAL ANGELO, BOTTICELLI, OR DA VINCI.
Will this appease you? I will make another thread now, but I will not tolerate petty arguements that contridict what you said just last week. I am going to go calm down and will return to continue. |

| If anyone would like to continue on, I am about to make a new thread. I am sorry for getting so upset, but I have spent hours trying to make everyone happy. You have no idea how many D-mails I have had from the first incident. Here on out, if anyone has a problem with a post, as I have requested before, please D-mail ME, and I will start a new thread without the drama being played out for all of DG to see, like some would have it. It does nothing but show how much some people want to grab attention. This was such a great idea, but if this continues, ruining the chances for all the artists to join and have great conversation, plus allowing the lurkers to enjoy the art, this thread will be closed. How sad that one of the most popular threads could be ruined in less than two weeks. I'll be right back. |

| There is a lot to be said, but because I truly am a peace loving person, instead I will just remove myself from this thread. I've enjoyed it immensely and appreciate all of the beautiful art that has been posted here, but don't have to tolerate being talked to as though I was a child when I just stated the facts. I did not make that post out of pettiness, regardless of how you or Terri see it. There's a big difference in the sculptures that were posted in the first thread and all out frontal nudity that the drawings showed which offended my granddaughter. It's very unfortunate, but your attitude has ruined my desire to share, for fear of posting something that will be unacceptable. That's already happened several times and made several folks uncomfortable.
