I just replaced all my south facing windows with low-e glass. I have been growing African violets in these windows (with the shades down) successfully -- lots of bright but no direct sunlight. Will the direct sunlight coming through the low-e glass be too much for the African violets? I'd rather not replace the shades if I don't have to, but I don't want to lose the violets.

I hope you get enough light for them. I have Low E and my, admittedly sun loving, hibiscus absolutly hate being indoors.

Hey ardesia! All of our "house" plants are low light level requirement---the usual African Violets, Massangeana, various Palms, Aglaonema, etc.. All seem to be doing fine so far, so I think my fear was foundless, but it's too soon to tell. I'm growing out some Impatiens for Plantasia---think I'll steal one and see how it does indoors in the low-E light...I love experiments!
