This will only work if you live in Houston but...I posted an ad on Craigslist looking for charities that would pickup free items in exchange for a tax receipt and got the following reply.

The Helping Hands Community Garden in Magnolia accepts donations of goods to be resold in our annual Mega-Sale which raises funds for us to continue and expand upon the community garden. We grow fresh fruits and veggies to help support the local food pantries and provide families with an environment to learn organic gardening.
If you would like to donate any items we would be happy to collect them and provide you with a tax receipt.
