This came from my wifes Great Great Uncle From Bavaria he had it made around 1880 or 90s this was his idea about puting water on top of the crock and it has to chanels on the cover to let the waterdrip down

Lovely crock phicks. Looks like a similar principle to the design used in the Harsch crocks but yours is much more attractive.

My Mother in law held it on her lap on a flight from germany to the usa in 1963 LOL long flight back then

LOL! That is quite a vision phicks! I understand here sentiments though. Good "foodware" is priceless. It's hard to make certain cultural staples without the right equipment.
