Tina...I enjoyed reading your article...especially with a little of your good humor thrown in. Have a very Merry Christmas...tell the kiddies hello for me! Jo
Thank you his great article! I always had difficulties with my Christmas cactus' blooming and still do, it has only one bud now!
Also, I never knew I could pinch it !
Thanks again!
Adina
I have always loved these cacti and they were always a part of our lives. i had a true xmas cactus that was a start from my mother's plant for 34 yrs. I became ill and wasn't paying much attention to my plants and even had to find a home for my parrot. the plant turned yellow and died. I have since found two true xmas cacti. one with narrower very dark green "leaves and one with broader leaves and a lighter green.
both exhibit the same red/magenta perfect hose-in hose flowers. True X-mas cacti are really hand me down plants and I have never seen them offered for sale by nursuries. One can normally only locate the Thanksgiving and Easter types. For a source try E-bay or look for plants being summered on shady old fashioned front porches and ask politely for a cutting. Gardeners love to share God's beauty.
