So I have this "issue" with sewing up a hole in my socks and making a little 'bunch' that I can feel either on my toe, or on my heel. So I never sew up my holes. But the rest of the sock is perfectly good! The other day I was complaining to myself that not enough of my nice washcloths had gotten ratty enough to become dishrags (the natural chain of events in my house), so I thought of the socks!
I cut them from the calf-to-the-heel-hole-to-the-toe-hole, and they laid flat, and now I have a whole PILE of new dishrags!
Anyway, just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone who was interested in what to do with those holey socks.
I would have given them to the DH in his garage rag-bucket, but I needed the dishrags this time. He can have the next batch. |

They are great for dusting too. Just put your hand in it like a glove and go for it! |

I think the dishcloth idea is wonderful. My DSIL uses them for dusting also and she loves them. I've tried using them for dusting but my thumb always feels "homeless", lol. I've thought about quickly sewing a "thumb slot" into some of them, if I ever try it I'll let y'all know how it works out.
I do confess though that most of our holey socks go to the dogs. I tie them in knots and let the doggies play tug of war with them. |

I use socks like that on my little Swiffer duster that I got a year or so again. I spray with Endust or use it barely damp. It is great for picking up animal hair which I have an abundance of around here. I have 6 indoor cats & 3 mostly indoor and sometimes outdoor dogs. I'm so eager for spring when more of them can stay outside more. |
