We bought a LG LDF7811WW dishwasher in the middle of November '07 from Grant's Appliances on 75th street in Downers Grove, Illinois. We actually went in to buy a Kitchen-aid but were talked in to buying the LG by a very persuasive salesman named Mike because they did not have the Kitchen-aid in stock.

When we had it installed, the motor wouldn't work. It would fill up with water and after about 2 minutes will start flashing "LE" on the display. We couldn't find that error code in the manual. We called customer support who stated that it meant a "Locked Engine" and they have to send a technician out to look at it.

The technician came on December 10th and said that it could be both the motor and the electronics control unit. He ordered the parts and said it would be 2 weeks before he can fix it. We were optimistic that we would have a working dishwasher for Christmas!

We were so wrong! The nightmare with LG customer service began last week.
- I called them on December 14th, 2007 and was told that they can't help me without an order number.
- I called the technician and don't get a reply.
- I called back LG on December 21st, 2007 and spoke with "George" who told me the part was shipped on the 12th and arrived at the repair facility on the 13th!
- I called the technician who states that he did not receive any parts.
- I called LG on December 22nd, 2007 and try to track down the Mystery of the Missing Parts. I found out that the parts have been shipped to a service center in Monroe, New Jersey! And, the LG support rep "John" was trying to convince me that since the part was shipped to the wrong service center, the quickest way to get the repairs done is to have the New Jersey technician take care of it.

EXCEPT, there is one tiny problem. I live in the suburbs of Chicago in Illinois!!!!!

When I pointed out to him that I live a 1000 miles from the New Jersey Service Center, he said "Oh, that wouldn't work then"!! NO KIDDING!!!!!

- My local technician called back and confirmed that they had shipped the parts to New Jersey instead of Illinois and it might take several days before the parts arrive.

- The LG support rep "John" wouldn't give me a definite date for the shipments arrival. He said it will arrive "some time soon"! and he did not offer me any other recourse.

I plan to go to the Downers grove Grant's Appliance this afternoon and see if they will wok with me to get a working dishwasher in my home before Christmas. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Any ideas that forum members have in sorting out this mess is appreciated.

LG products look great, but I keep remembering all the horror stories about the parent companies - Lucky and Goldstar.

Unfortunately, we have a couple at the restaurant - an A/C and a large refigerator/freezer. So far the A/C has been fine. The refer, on the other hand, has some odd quirks - shut the refigerator door and the freezer door opens a bit - everything frosts up. Does not happen all the time - frustrating, tho.
