Hey guys, I am doing a science fair project and I want to know your opinion on oxiclean. Do you like it or no? Does it ruin your clothes? Is it really a color-safe bleach? Would you recommend it? Respond ASAP please!

I have used it. I believe it works best on organic stains. I can't really explain what that means, but if you spill some kind of food/drink on your clothes, or if you have someone with bladder problems on bedding--it does remove it. Sometimes you have to put the powder straight on the stain and let it sit a while.

Not an expert. Just know I have used it with satisfactory ressults.

If this is a science fair project, why don't you do some experiments? Get some pieces of fabric and spill some things on them, then try cleaning them with Oxy Clean and see what happens. You'll probably find that it works better on some sorts of stains than others. And get a variety of fabrics and test them to see if it bleaches them at all.

Good luck, but in my experience it does NOT work.

I do not think it works...it does not ruin clothing...but does not remove stains or make clothes brighter.

Don't know your project went .. but I totally did NOT think Oxy Clean worked for me the times I tried it ..

It did cause blue stain spots on a tablecloth though :-(

I know this is an old thread but I just came across it. I am so surprised to hear that Oxyclean did not work for others--it has worked very well for me, especially when my children were babies and they had lots of food stains on their clothes (bibs only work so well.) I found that if I soaked their clothes in a bucket of water and oxyclean for a day before washing them the stains would come right out.

Just my two cents. :)

Hi Niere ..

Glad it worked for you .. I'm not saying it 100% non effective ... but .. I sure did have to watch to ensure I had completely dissolved it before I threw clothes in with it.

Sad to see the Television spokesman for the product has died ..

Yes, it was sad to hear that he had passed. So young, too. I wonder if he was aware that he even had high blood pressure, which is what they are saying it was largely due to.

Maybe the oxyclean worked well for me because it was allowed to really dissolve in the bucket and the clothes sat there for a day or two. Maybe they would have come clean just from the soaking, who knows. I was just happy to have clean baby clothes. :)

I use Oxyclean to remove stains like blood, wine, or other organic ones. I just rub the powder straight into the stain with a bit of water and let it sit.

It also washes out "bodily stains" of all kinds...like soiled sheets, urine stains and such.
I believe that is what it is most recommended for...
