I have been searching on the internet for an answer to my question and I did stumble onto this site. First off I know nothing about heating/cooling units but I was wondering if someone could help me. Right now I live in a rental house with a couple of roommates and I think something is wrong with the vents. My landlord isn't really concerned about it either though. For some reason now I can hear pretty much everything through my vent in my room. When I try to sleep, I can hear what everybody is doing throughout the house; it just echo's through the vent. It used to not be like that, so I was just wondering if anybody had any idea what it could be. This being able to hear noises only happened from time to time when the air went on and off during the summer, but now it is just stuck as if the vents are completely opened. From my room I can hear everything from every room. Sleeping with ear plugs gets a little annoying. Below are pictures that are hosted of my heating/cooling unit. Thanks so much!
