Wow! I had no idea there were so many additional choices. I have to try some of these. They would do well here in the fall winter season too. Look so yummy! Thanks again for sharing this information.
Dutchlady, that is why I grow them! I can find them at one store - but we don't shop there often and in general, they are not organic (or even "all natural".) And I certainly can not find them fresh in the winter as farmers here don't tend to farm them in the winter.
Know you only had so much space so may I also suggest winter radishes? Green meat and Red or Rose heart (Hybrid: Mantanghong) are worth a look. And for kim chee, the Korean white winter radishes of course.
For a book on the subject, Joy Larkcom's "Oriental Vegetables: The Complete Guide for the Gardening Cook" is one of the best.
Excellent article, and thanks for the sources for seeds. I have loved Oriental vegies and stir-frys for years, but also have limited accessibility here, except for our farmers markets. I have grown some, but have had limited supply to seeds. This is wonderful, I'm already thinking about this year's crop, to expand out my chinese cabbage, and baby pak choi.
