thanks kniphofia!..well, i'm sure pleased that it flowered so well.
i mentioned that detail, as it is known that Amaryllids resent being transplanted, and may take years to settle down, however this Crinum didn't seem to mind, in fact, welcomed the move!
When moving homes, i always try to bring as much as i can to my new home, that can be risky, cause plants die sometimes, but at the old house, my Crinums just didn't flourish.
too dry for them..( it was a large sandstone rockery, too large to water by hand, plus we have water restrictions, it's against the law to water by hose!)
Anyhow, my new place, i had to build the garden from nothing, and brought in some sand to add to the clay soils. It was hard work incorporating sand into heavy clay, but i can see that the plants like it, and thus, better soil water retention and drainage..and the results are there to see!
I only wish they'd last for months instead of 2 weeks, but one can't have everything!
thanks for your comment K.
