Up until now, any orchids brought into this house have died. Part of the reason is 2 kitties that like to chew on and otherwise just disrupt any houseplants. Recently I was gifted with 3 orchids (2 oncidium and 1 dendrobium) and decided to just keep them as they arrived - potted with the pots enclosed in clear plastic. So far the cats are leaving them alone and they seem to be doing fine - however I don't think this is the best overall solution.

At Trader Joe's the other day I saw a suggestion for keeping orchids. The potted orchids, were put inside very large glass vases, pots and all. It seems that this system is very similar to what is currently working, but I need details, please! It would be sooooo nice to finally be able to grow some orchids. I'm open to any other suggestions.
