I couldn't agree more - with the cartoons and with doccat!!!
Reminded me of a very studious gentleman in a Master Gardener class I took who just didn't get it, bless his heart. At one of our volunteer sessions, before we could do anything to stop him - he pulled out his well-used reciprocating saw and whacked off one of three support roots for an established tree, explaining that it didn't need it as it wasn't a feeder root and he wanted to plant some perennials there!
