I had fun showing off my new Praying Mantis weathervane in the Garden Art forum, and thought I'd share this Griffin weathervane photo here. I'm hoping this will be my next acquisition! It's currently on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-Griffin-Weathervane-Copper-NR_W0QQitemZ120213112763QQihZ002QQcategoryZ553QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Wish me luck!

Forgot to include a link to the artist's website in case you'd like to see his other designs: http://www.davidsmithart.com. I know he has Dragons, a Pegasus and Bluefin Tuna. I really like this serpent, too, the way its tail wraps around (pictured below). Good stuff!

Thanks for asking, Ticker... I missed the end of the auction so I didn't get the Griffin. Will try again next time! I'm so glad I have the Praying Mantis weathervane to console me! ;-)

Do you see many weathervanes in IA? I always wonder why there aren't more here on the Gulf Coast, especially on the old houses in Galveston. It's fun to watch them point out the wind direction when it changes (which it does quite a bit here!)

Here's a page where you can see a bunch of different David Smith designs: http://www.carolwells.com/davidsmithweathervanes.html

Enjoy!
