I live in the western part of West Virginia, the Ohio River side.I have a patio That I am wanting to put a roof over not a Pergola an actual roof. The patio is 16ft by 16ft. I would like to make the roof cover16 wide and 12 or 14 ft out from house. I am having trouble trying to find out if I need to run 2x6's, 2x8's or 2x10's for the rafters.
I do not know the strenght of the lumber on a long run and figure in snow loads.
I am just wondering if anyone knows where besides a contractor I might get some helpful advice.
Thanks Tim |

I googled 'wood beam load' and came up with these two sites. Good luck!

It helps that I'm a database administrator myself - I know how the search terms work ;-) |
