Did you buy the Jotul 500? We just did and are having some problems, can you give us some info about it? We are having trouble shutting it up at night - temp keeps escalating - are having small fast burning fires instead of long controlled burns. Did you have that problem? Any info you have to share will be appreciated. Thanks

buffygirl,We have the Oslo Jotul. I was wondering what kind of wood you are using? Lots of times, burning problems stem from the wood you use. Maybe little larger pieces of not so high BTU wood would burn slower. We have been burning mostly cherry wood.for this time of year. If it is colder, maybe put in 3-4 pieces of cherry & 1 piece of ash. There will still be coals in the morning .I hope you see this. I'm sure I can help you. I have had lots of experience with stoves. Only source of heat for years.
