I have painted a series of Iris. The series consists of 15 paintings. They were painted 2006-07. Now I am working on new paintings for 2008. Anyone interested in botanical art?

Yes! I love your iris! Iris are one of my favorite plants to paint. I do watercolors. And I love your composition on this painting. It rocks. I am trying to figure out how to get some of my paintings on to a thread here but I am techno challenged. Will try to get D.H. to show me this weekend as I just had a friend scan and make a c.d. for me yesterday. Anyway. Last year I got in to tulips. Last week I was messing with daffodils. I have painted various types of plants and flowers. What do you like to paint most? I find roses difficult. Morning glories and artichokes are fun. Do you work outdoors? Use photos?

Hey confident_realm, I love it! I really like the contrast in colors between the bg and the flowers.
I love botanical art and I keep telling myself that I am going to do some, but then I always get side tracked.
Love the composition too. Would love to see more.

That is beautiful. It reminds me a bit of Dali but prettier.

Well, looks like it came through. Now my next question is how do I put my name and copy right info. and title on it? Do I have to have photoshop? By the way this is called,"Soft Tulip". It's a watercolor by me, 2007. Any info. would be appreciated.

Sorry I haven't been online for awhile... catching up on all my email and stuff like this wonderful forum :)...
Thank you all for your kind words.
I love to paint and i especially love to paint flowers and draw flowers and be around flowers, period. I use both live models and photographs. I have been painting flowers all my life but just within the last 5 years I have really made more space in my life for artwork. I will post more of my stuff. I painted a series of iris last year and so far this year I am working on peppers and butterflies as well as flowers.

Not sure if these images are copywrited here like those posted on blooms .com
Here is another painting.
The last two I posted were "Iris Sky" and "Rainbow Iris"
This one is "Iris Colorama"
All I have posted so far have been large format (4' X3') oil on canvas.

Thank you. Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm stepping on someone's toes. The Louisiana iris are quite jolly! They seem to be in an almost "folk art" mode which is a little different than some of your other iris paintings. Is it newer or older?

The iris are wonderful. I draw them and am now carving some on clay pots but I have never painted them. The close up painting is incredible, the detail, I love it. Your colors are so vivid.

The way you see the variety of colors in each iris is what really makes them special to me.

Love your Iris, I haven't had much success painting Iris. I have painted Brugs, Sunflowers, Lemons, Tomatoes, & am presently working on a tulip. I think I like painting flowers the best. Still sort of new to W/C painting.

Thanks Gardnerkett and Roybird. Actually van Gogh is my favorite all time artist because of his wonderful way he catches the spirit of the wind in his landscapes. Here is another iris.
