Are you sure it's not Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee'? I know there's an Allamanda by that name but never heard of a mandy called that. I used to have the Allamanda and that's what it looks like to me.

It's raining so I'm sitting inside looking at everyone's beautiful flowers.  Good job everyone. One of my new favorites, at least to my area, is Persian Shield (Strobialanthus dyerianus).  I had to look that up, ya'll.  My Latin is lacking.    This purple and silver is irridescent and just shimmers in the garden.  I grew it for the first time last year and it bushed to four feet and was the plant everybody oohed and aahed over. Easy care, no staking but it did require water quite a bit.

That's a beautiful Persian Shield. Mine is only a few leaves on a twig so far.

This is the first flower to come up in our garden--just in the last few days. Spring is late this year, we still have quite a bit of snow in some areas.

Behold: Winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis).

I love Persian Shield and I have never seen this winter aconite but she is beautiful!
Let me think of something blooming outside right now. I posted lots of hoya blooms and begonia canes in full flower. Couldn't find them in my pics but orchids are blooming here in south Texas outside.

I have never seen that aconite either, Rosemary, it is georgeous.  DallasDad, that Persian shield pix was last year.  Mine did not winter over, even with heavy mulch, so I am going to have to start over this year.  Your twig and leaves are way ahead of me... do they last through the winter in your zone?  When I have something new, I will always try to keep it outside first, my weather is so changeable, and then will try to bring it in for the winter, but space is going at a premium for overwintering. Orchids outside gessiegail?  How lovely.  They are always so pretty.Got to get outside now.  Happy gardening.

I beg to differ with an unknown author but here's my spin,

God made rainy days so gardeners could pull weeds away from treasured plants.
God made rainy days so Georgia gardeners could have water without fearing the water police.
God made rainy days so May-flowers could come over.

Do not get me started. I'm in the house on a rainy day when i want to be at the garden center. (LOL)
