| I want to buy an electric pencil sharpener that sharpens multiple sizes and doesn't eat the pencils. Do you happen to know of one that costs under $75? |

| Morning Zen. What kind of pencils are you wanting to sharpen? I use an electric sharpener for all my graphite pencils. It works well for charcoal and carbon pencils most of the time. Pastel pencils pretty much have to be sharpened with a razor. Colored pencils work in the electric sharpener too.
The one I use is the x-acto powerhouse. You can see it here: http://www.dickblick.com/zz214/12a/ although mine is an older version.
If you are planning to use it for graphite pencils, I would suggest using lead holders with 2mm leads. You can get a MUCH sharper point for precision and there is less waste.

| James, Thank you. I will be sharpening all of the above. I have come to the conclusion that the pastels need a razor. I have been wondering about the x-acto sharpeners.

| I just bought one of the old fashioned kind from Target. You remember, this is a people driven one. You put the pencil in the hole and crank the little handle. LOL I needed something for my colored pencils. |

| I can't seem to find one that doesn't eat my pencils. Now if I could get one of the kind I had as a kid then I would be happy. |

| Is it like the old fashion ones that sharpen rather than eat the pencil? |

| I've found it to be a really good one----it's the kind with the multi-sized holes on the side and a crank handle, and the two spiralled gears inside.
I found it on their site with the gardening supplies; it's used for trimming twigs for grafting. |

| I find and exacto blade works best... not too high tech, but i consistently get good points with the least amount of wasted lead but the most lead exposure. |

| I bought the e-xacto School Pro electric sharpener that sharpens multiple sizes. It works nicely. It does a good job of stopping when the pencil is sharpened and doesn't keep eating away at it.
I don't get to play with knives very often I tend to cut myself. Check out doccat's post above. |

| I have a hand-cranked pencil sharpener from the 40's - works great! If the sharpener is eating the pencils, the blade is dull - time to throw it out and buy a GOOD one. |

| I like battery operated sharpeners - they are under $10 usually and portable, so I can take them anywhere to sharpen my colored pencils. All office supply stores have them. |
