Hi,
I searched thru this forum and could not even find the word disinfection. Strange.
I just built a nice large potting table so that I can start to repot my orchids. Various people told me early on to always disinfect everything after each use, the knife, scissor and hanging wire material. I was supposed to throw out old pots and buy new growing material for repotting.
Is this what you folks do? I thought I could simply disinfect the lava or whatever and clean the pots and re-use them. To throw old pots away seems a bit silly to me.
A few orchids had died on my during the summer (some always do) and I just emptied their contents to discover lots of little ant like bugs in the growing medium. Can I just take some clorine mixed in water and throw the lava rock into the bucket and then wash the rock with plain water and use them again?
Any and all tips are appreciated.
Fred
