I am starting a tray that will be auctioned off in May for the Relay For Life Auction. I have never done anything for this auction (or any other auction for that matter!!!!!) before. I'm planning on pouring resin over it when done to preserve it. I'm not sure what I will do around the circle for fill..if you all have any ideas let me know!!!!!!!

Lots of people are using grout for fill. There are a lot of posts about this in the Trash to Treasure Forum as well as here.

That is a beautiful tray. Did you design it?

caro that marlbed craft paper looks great...may have to use that idea!!!

katie- I will check out the trash to treasure section you mentioned. Im not sure if I want to use grout as fill though unless I embellish it with beads or something. Im not sure if most people would like it, and because this is for an auction I want to be able to appeal to a wider range of people!! I however do like when grout is used artistically as fill. No I did not design the tray. I got the picture somewhere (cant remember where now!!!) liked it so decided it would make a nice design on this tray.

Here is my progress for today..

It's coming along beautifully.

You could also post it at Trash to Treasures and ask for suggestions there. One thing people always seem to be able to get here at daves is lots of suggestions.

Here is my progress as of to date. The surface looks all scratched because it is. I scratched it up and sanded it a little because I was afraid the glass and beads would not stick otherwise. I will be doing the ring on the circle next. I have all the glass cut (black) to do around the circle. Hopefully this will start to progress at a faster pace.
