Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. Hope you all don't wait till the last minute to do your shopping or creating a treat for that special someone. If you have anything in reds, pinks, or somewhere in between, bring it on in, so we can all celebrate the holiday together.

Have a seat, relax, and enjoy a cuppa' or two. We are always open and love new faces and ideas.

Red tulips dancing for Valentine's Day. My real tulips are tucked up under a foot of snow - good for them as it's single digits here right now.

I've been absent lately, but am enjoying catching up. Lovely stuff ya'll are doing!

These are silk scarves that I dyed just before Christmas. It wasn't the exact procedure that i had envisioned, but 2 broken ankles and a wheelchair kept me from sun-printing them.

These are done with a combination of fiber-reactive dyes and fabric paints.

Hi Melody,
So sorry to hear about your broken ankles, hope you are recovering well.
I love your beautiful silk scaves, fibre reactive dyes? is that like batik without the wax? Sorry, I don't know much about dying fabrics. The shimmer is stunning, thankyou for bringing those in.

Mel, those turned out very nicely. Did you get your mom hooked on dyeing in the process?

I got started dyeing kit and the book, "Color by Accident" from Dharma on Friday. Haven't had any time, been quilting up some ufqs that have been sitting around. We'll see. If you were closer, I wouldn't have had to buy the book! ; )

Hi sandy,
what a great design, very unique! I would love to put some flowers in it, but it looks beautiful just the way it is.
Thanks for calling in, yes this cafe is quieter these days, it seems I upset people without meaning to.
Have you seen the new basket weaving forum? It looks like fun, I might have a go at making a basket sometime!!
Has Paul been doing any paintings recently?

Fiber reactive is the type of dye that bonds to natural fibers. It becomes part of the cloth. Other dyes sit on top of the fiber like paint.

Glad you are taking the plunge Kathleen. I've found that it's not an exact science, and never measure anything, so don't over analyze it. (as if I had any worries)

I'm lurking over in the basket forum too...great minds think alike.

Wow! That Does look like metal, so cool!
I mostly make messes on paper mostly they do not resemble "art" very much. I have been taking W/C lessons some days are better than others!
This is one of the class excercises. She is a good teacher, not sure if I'm a good student! But we are having a great time!

My goal is to learn to paint loose. After painting in Acrylic for years, is hard to dislodge the "control factor" & just let it be out of control.
This sunflower is actually W/C, looks more like Acrylics.
