Wuvie, was thinking about you this morning on my way in to the city..always admire your bowling balls but cannot find any in my area..do you think if I purchased a good quality lets say soccer ball or similar - hard to the touch that once I did the work on it and grout it - the piece would be ok...
Betty - Check out the Hypertufa and concrete forum. You could use a round bowl as a mold and make your own.
We talked about using another kind of ball here thinking something lighter would be nice to use as a gift for grandparents, covered with pictures of the family. It was thought that as long as the ball had a rigid structure and wouldn't sag or wrinkle it would work.
I think you could also get a light weight ball and use it as a mild, supported by sand so it will hold iti's shape when you pour your material (recipes for molding material are also at the Hypertufa and concrete forum).
