I'm a horticulture student in Minnesota, and I'm looking for some plants I can grow in my dorm room. I have an east facing window and a growlite. Does anyone have any plants I can take cuttings of, or plants that could be divided? I have some nice coleus cuttings that have been rooted and potted already, if anyone wants to make a trade. (The coleus is a verigated bright pink and bright green colour. Look at the picture.) I also have a nice large jade plant you could take cuttings from too. They're very easy to start (or, if you wanted I could take cuttings and get them rooted in the greenhouse for you. It makes things a bit easier!) I have also started some goldfish plant cuttings that will be ready to go soon. They're very pretty houseplants, with really waxy leaves and a red coloured underside.
Any other gardeners around looking to swap or share?
Hi, Andrea
Welcome to Dave's.
We have lots of houseplants here that would do well for you. Would gladly give you cuttings, but I don't know how I could send them in this cold weather.
We put low-E windows in our house a couple years ago. Even African Violets do well in the south & east windows. They should work for you. Seem to bloom all the time here & there are so many colors.
Dave has a forum just for African Violets,
