For those who live in the D.C. Metro area or are planning to visit this year, this is to announce that the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History has just opened a new butterfly exhibit!! It is called"Partners in Evolution" and consists of two exhibits. The evolution exhibit is free, and is right next to the live butterfly pavilion which features hundreds of live butterflies and tropical plants from around the world. Entrance to the butterfly pavilion requires purchase of advance tickets which are for time slots. I believe the exhibit will be open for most of the year, as the website did not say how long it will be there.
Also, for those who love to watch insects in general, the O. Orkin Insect Zoo has re-opened!! They feature live tarantula feedings and touch and feel sessions with live bugs. Also in the same museum!!
